Canterbury’s local radio station CSR FM are for the first time bringing their live show CSR Presents to The Penny Theatre. CSR Presents is a platform for the best up-and-coming talent to bring their music to Canterbury, and on Friday 11th May at 7pm, you can catch four unmissable indie/alternative acts take to the stage. Headlining the gig are The Modern Strangers, RAFFER, Sports Team, and Jon Grayson. Tickets for the night are £5, and can be found here.

Check out the acts below to see if there’s something for you.

The Modern Strangers,  who hail from Tunbridge Wells, Kent, are a 5 piece indie-disco group who have performed across the country and and at high-profile events such as Big Weekend 2017. They initially found success with their debut single ‘Vanilla’, and have since been featured on Made in Chelsea, and charted in the Viral Top 50. The Modern Strangers are already accumulating a large fan base and are getting popular quickly, so now is the time to catch their bold tunes on stage.

RAFFER,  who is also originally from Kent, has played and headlined packed gigs in London and received support from BBC Introducing. His self-produced indie-pop music is rich and vibrant, and his energetic track ‘Together’, which you can sample below, showcases a wealth of talent and potential.

Six piece band Sports Team have received widespread attention over the last few months and are accumulating quite a fan base. The members of the band met studying at Cambridge, and were friends long before they started making music. During their humbler beginnings on the London gig circuit, they crossed paths with producer Dave McKracken, who they worked with to produce their debut EP ‘Winter Nets’ released in January this year.

Jon Grayson, who originally comes from Medway and is a UKC Alumni, released his debut EP ‘Stranger’ last November, and can be found on popular streaming platforms. He has caught the attention of BBC Radio Kent’s Abbie McCarthy and received airplay on her show, as well as various other stations and CSR fm.
