Mexican restaurant chain ‘Chimichanga’ is closing its branch on Canterbury High Street.

The chain’s owners, TPG Capital, also own the sister chain Prezzo which is planning 94 closures nationally, leading to 1,000 job cuts. The Canterbury branch, however, will not close.

The restaurant is a popular spot for Mexican cuisine, but faces competition from the many other Mexican establishments in Canterbury high street. The closures are part of a restructuring plan to save the Italian brand, allowing Prezzo to pay off its creditors.
