Female Student Assaulted at University of Kent Canterbury Campus

Reports were made last night of a female student at the University of Kent being assaulted at the Canterbury campus.

Kent Police say they are investigating reports of an assault after a 20-year-old woman was assaulted after a night out in the early hours of this morning. The woman contacted the police at 02:46am on Thursday 2 October.

She stated she had been walking down Giles Lane when she was approached by an unknown man and was assaulted near a footpath by the Kent Sports Centre car park.

A statement from the Press Officer at the University of Kent said: “The wellbeing of our students is of paramount importance to the University of Kent.”

“We are liaising with the police to assist in their investigation into the incident on campus last Thursday morning.”

Detectives are currently trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
