Canterbury officer allegedly stabbed when dealing with a disturbance

A police officer was injured whilst dealing with a disturbance in Canterbury on Wednesday 25 March.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning at York Road.

The officer was taken to hospital after suffering a stab to the leg. He had permission to return home after treatment.

James Richards, 22, was arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm and affray.

Richards was remanded in custody and is due to appear in court.
