inQuire scribes awarded for hardwork
They were not exactly the Oscars but the Student Activities Awards held on June 16th at the Darwin Conference Suite had all the merriment and plenty of what Student Media Manager Jamie Stephens appropriately described as ‘buffet-style nourishment and general booziness in lieu of celebrity-festooned red carpet’ events.
The ever snappily-dressed and affable former chair of inQuire Media Group, Mr Charlie Baylis, made his last public appearance in his role as chairman; wowing the audience with his dry wit and shiny white shoes as he presented the first group of awards to outstanding inQuire members. He presented certificates to individuals whose selfless dedication and commitment to the inQuire website and newspaper made it a respectable source of media at the University of Kent.
Stage-frequenter Zain Sardar, (who may also be said to have won the award for the most awards given at the ceremony) was declared the ‘best inQuire website writer’ and Syed Abbas Hussein the ‘best inQuire Newspaper writer.’ The best photographer award was scooped by Gilles Glod and finally, the outgoing tireless and hardworking Newspaper Editor, Rory White, who unfortunately could not be present at the ceremony, was deservedly presented with the ‘Outstanding Commitment to inQuire’ award.
The full list of all inQuire nominations is as follows:

inQuire would like to take this opportunity to thank the brilliant 2008/2009 team and everyone who volunteered their time to make it such a success. For those who are about to graduate, you will be sorely missed – gone but not forgotten!

A very nice write up - thanks Tinashe.
To everyone involved this year, my thanks and best wishes for helping create a glorious twelve months for inQuire, I will miss you all so much, and can find no words to describe how sad I feel to be leaving inQuire.
Take care young scribes!
Best of luck for the year ahead,
Charlie
