"Hollywould": The first online soap about student life at a university in Kent

“Hollywould”, a ten episode long serial, is a new web drama setting to air on Kent TV dealing with the highs and lows of student life.
The plot revolves around Holly, a high-achieving fresher at a generic Kent university, discovering University life while reaching beyond her text books to the outside world. A mysterious stranger who steals her things, an interesting flat mate and Holly’s peculiar feeling that she is being watched are only a few examples of what the young student is going to experience.
“Hollywould” played by a cast from Kent, also involves writers, producers, camera operators, runners and editors from the county and was shot over the summer in a variety of locations in Canterbury and Medway.
It is meant to break new ground by getting the audience to decide on how the plot unravels allowing every Kent TV viewer to vote on how the cliff-hanger at the end of each short five minute episode should be resolved.
The drama also deals with more serious issues such as sexual health and student safety and is meant to raise awareness between students – especially Freshers’ - about their actions.
John McGhie, Kent TV’s managing editor, said that it is meant to reach out to young people; “not only will it give them something Kent based to enjoy but we are also putting some very light-touch messaging in there on issues like sexual health and student safety that will genuinely help young people in the county – especially those who have left home for the first time to come to college here.”
The creative head behind “Hollywould” Julie Wassmer, famous for penning multiple episodes of hit soap-opera, “EastEnders” as well as “Medics”, “Family Affairs” and “London's Burning”, stated that Kent TV’s project has offered her fascinating new dimensions, “It’s very exciting that Kent TV is at the forefront of a new way of storytelling.”
“Hollywould” is going to be aired from the 14th of October onwards at www.kenttv.com/hollywould

This "show" is as terrible as it is embarrassing. No wonder KentTV is failing to take off if it is spearheading content like this.
The writing is is rigid, the actresses can't act and the plots are so far removed from anything resembling reality it's a joke.
It's realy patronising that the writer feels they need to add "light-touch messaging... on issues like sexual health and student safety that will genuinely help young people in the county".
It's a shame because life at University at Kent has potentially a lot to offer to a show. If only that had chosen realistic story lines and believable characters.
