AMA Championship Success for Karate Scholar

After finishing in second place at the JKS Championships at the end of last year, Mohammad Avanaki has gone from strength to strength and has recently achieved greater success at one of the sporting highlights on the karate calendar.
Mohammad finished fifth at the AMA International Karate Championships. There were 15 countries involved in the competition, with competitors coming from nations as far as the USA, Iran and Japan. The one day championship was held in Sheffield, the location of the BUCS Championships this month.
After completing 6 fights, the head of the Iran national team had noticed Iranian-born Mohammad improve throughout his fights; and invited the PhD student from the University of Kent the opportunity to compete for them. After Mohammad's initial excitement at the prospect, he informed the Iran coach that he is committed to his studies at Kent, and to competing for the UK team.
After the Championships, Mohammad spoke to InQuire and said "I would like to thank the sport centre for their support especially Greham and Mel for their great fitness and strength program for the scholars and all my instructors in the gym for their good training, and I'd also like to thank Deniz Kayýmbaþýoðlu, the president of our karate club."
Next up for Mohammad is the BUCS Championships in Sheffield, where I'm sure more success is on the cards.
