Australia Champions!

Australia have beaten Germany in the final of the Men's Hockey World Cup to take the title.
The "Kookaburras" beat the Germans 2.1 at the Dhyan Chand National Stadium in India infront of a sell out crowd. A field goal scored in the sixth minute by Eddie Ockenden sent the Aussies on their way to the Cup.
It took Germany until the 48th minute to equalise. A penalty corner scored by Moritz Fürste gave the Germans hope.
Yet 11 minutes later and Australia were back in the lead. A penalty corner scored by Melbourne-born Luke Doerner put the 1986 champions 2.1 up - which would be how the game ended.
This was the second World Cup win for Australia and cements their position as one of the greatest hockey-playing countries.
England, however, after losing to Germany 4.1 on Thursday in their semi-final, were playing for pride in their third place play-off against the Netherlands. Despite their best efforts, England lost the match 3.4 and have to settle for fourth place - their best position in the Hockey World Cup since 1986, when they finished runners up.
It has not yet been decided where the 2014 Hockey World Cup will be played, however, hopes are turning to the championship coming to London for the second time.
Next up on the hockey calendar is the Women's World Cup which starts on the 30 August, in Rosario, Argentina. Lets hope England can bring the cup home!
