Face

'Face' is the alternative music night at the Venue on a Thursday evening. This night stands alone in the calendar of the Venue as this is the only night that plays a wide range of alternative tunes mixed with a few of the oldies rather than just dance or R & B music.
The entry fee is a mere two pounds before half past ten while double spirits are also two pounds. This is a great night to make the most of the even cheaper student drinking and good priced entry fee, which not many clubs around Canterbury can boast about.
This night is not unlike POP from last year; the last indie night that too featured on Thursdays. It also seems to have held the popularity of POP though it can be said that it has had more success than 'I Predict A Riot' from the winter term.
Although Face is never as packed as Wednesday or Saturday nights, it is a refreshing change from the hundreds of sweaty people and proves to be a fun, freeing atmosphere. One of the main differences between Face and the other nights at the Venue is that there are never any dressed-themed events though apart from the alternative clubbing, there are a few bands that come in for a night such as 'Does if Offend You, Yeah' which provides a more gig-like experience.
If a lot of indie tunes does not take someone’s fancy then the RockSoc have their weekly social in the Lighthouse where they play heavier alternative music which can aid as a bit of a relief for the people who prefer rockier sounds. All in all, Face does prove to be an enjoyable evening out which does not break the bank balance while students can get down to more recharging music.
