I think Blurred Lines is a horrible song, let’s get that out to start with. Its lyrics appear to condone date rape and the song’s ‘I’ seems to think that if he doesn’t like what someone is saying/doing, he can interpret their words/actions however he wants (“I hate these blurred lines, I know you want it”. String of Universities Ban Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines on Campus

Several universities have now banned Robin Thicke’s chart topping song, Blurred Lines, from being played in bars and venues on campus. Edinburgh was the first to ban the song in early September, followed by Leeds and now the University of Derby and the University of West Scotland. Hollie O’Connor, president of the University of Derby students union, said that the union “wanted to be part of taking a stand because the song promotes an unacceptable attitude towards women and heavily objectifies them.” The controversy around the song has originated from its alleged objectification of women, as well as the…

Hustle Star Wows National Audiences

Adrian Lester, star of the BBC’s Hustle, has wowed audiences at the National Theatre with his sensational performance as Othello in this Shakespearean production. Manipulated by his devilish friend Iago, played by Rory Kinnear, Othello is turned against the love of his life, Desdemona, with brutal consequences.
