Today’s snow downpours over Kent have caused four inter-college football matches to be cancelled.

In the first of the day’s matches that was scheduled to kick off at 12:15pm, Eliot FC were planning to take on Rutherford Raiders. Keynes Athletic were due to play Eliot Academicals and Keynes FC were preparing to take on Rutherford Tigers – both 2:15pm starts. The final match to be postponed was Park Wood United’s tie against Darwin Evolution; a 4:14pm kick off. It is now thought that Darwin Tigers match with Virginia Woolf tomorrow will also be called off.

Staff at The Pavilion, the multimillion pound sports centre, are now concerned as to when the cancelled matches will be re-scheduled to play. Inter-college football matches at Kent University take place each weekend, with added fixtures going on during the week. Most inter-college fixtures for the weekend will take place this coming Sunday, with only Eliot Academicals playing Park Wood FC on Saturday.

With these cancellations, it is now hoped that the snow will disappear as quickly as it came, so sports matches can once again commence at the university.
