Tonight saw international football matches take place across the globe, with nations preparing for the World Cup getting some much needed tasters for things to come.

England faced Africans Egypt in a packed out Wembley Stadium. England were on the back foot early on, with Zidan putting the away side 1-0 up after 23 minutes. It took the home side until the 56th minutes to find some fluency – when Peter Crouch got the equaliser. The decisive third goal came with 15 minutes left of play – Shaun Wright-Phillip’s effort got past the Egyptian defence. The win was sealed for England in the 80th minute when Crouch got his second goal of the match.

Other results were as follows:

Scotland 1:0 Czech Republic

Wales 0:1 Sweden

France 0:2 Spain

Netherland 2:1 USA

Germany 0:1 Argentina

Albania 1:0 Northern Ireland

The win is a great morale boost for the English side and will have helped Capello decide which players to take to South Africa.
