Women’s Volleyball Ensure Winning UKC Start To Varsity

The women’s volleyball team got UKC off to a winning start in Varsity with a 3-0 victory over CCCU, James Shaw reports. This was the performance the UKC women’s team, who have not been having the best of seasons, really needed. This win saw a fantastic offensive display against an inferior Christ Church team. They started well. The captain, Dainyah Mason, led by example with some good blocking but the spiking award has to go to Marlène Lapeyre. The University of East Anglia (UEA) is going to be considered one of the luckiest universities by many jealous students, after announcing this month that they were the first university in the country to open a nap room for students. Best Albums Ever: I Forget Where We Were – Ben Howard

Ben Howard’s second LP is, for me, one of the boldest steps an artist can take in the music industry. Many artists with a slightly-poppy debut album (such as Mr Howard’s Every Kingdom) find themselves sucked into commercialism by the time their sophomore effort is released, which means many of these ‘second albums’ end up being heavily diluted with meaningless, generic, non-sincere songs aimed for the most profitable market. Week 18 BUCS: Winning Wednesday For UKC

Wednesday 25 February saw the last round of BUCS fixtures before Varsity 2015. It was a good day for Team Kent with six victories and just one loss. It was an all-Kent affair in the men’s lacrosse but the unbeaten first team managed to beat their seconds by the substantial margin of 18-3. Elsewhere, the women’s first badminton team emphatically defeated Essex seconds to find the sort of momentum that will give them a boost heading into Varsity. The men’s rugby firsts also enjoyed a big win, defeating Kings College seconds to keep themselves above Christchurch in the table….
